I heard demo accounts are useless, is this true?

Depends where you are in your journey. If you’re an expert trader that makes big money, a demo account is useless. If you’re new or a person still learning and growing, it is a great tool to take advantage of. It has the power to allow you to run a simulated trading experience without using any of your money. This is the quickest way to learn to use your trading platform. You don’t have to worry about pushing the wrong button or getting confused because you don’t lose any money. You can also take the time to test out some of your strategies to see if you’re any good to begin with.

What does pairs mean?

In foreign exchange, you need to realize that currency isn’t of value in itself. It has value with contrast (or comparison) with another currency. You’ll often see prices quoted like this: USD/CAN = 1.0159. That means that the USD is worth 1.0159 Canadian.

Why do you need to know this? Well, you maybe looking at a specific currency for a good trading opportunity and may not see a thing. Be aware that you can always look at the same currency with respect to something else. There maybe no opportunities with one currency, but against another there could be a lot.
